October is almost behind us, and with it, another month of Mountain Kings hockey.
October was a difficult month for the team schedule wise, but the team is looking forward to the chance to make up ground in their upcoming homestands. October heralded the arrival of goaltender Vladimir Nikitin. Nikitin, a native of Kazakhstan, is one of the few NHL draft selections active in the North American Hockey League. Selected by Ottawa in the 7th round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, he comes to New Hampshire after starting the season with Youngstown of the USHL. Keep an eye on him as he looks to continue the strong Mountain Kings tradition of excellent goaltending.
The Mountain Kings snapped their losing streak, and the Northeast Generals winning streak on Saturday, October 25th, with a solid 2-1 win. Alexander Duhon and Cael Knutson both netted goals, and Vladimir Nikitin stopped 31 of 32 shots on goal to bring the Mountain Kings back in the win column.
At the end of October, Corwith Simmers and Ben Tauscher both share the team lead for goals, with 4 a piece. Thomas Quast, the West Point commit, leads the team with 10 points.
Up next, a big weekend series against the Elmira Aviators. Friday is Hockey Halloween night. Dress up in your favorite costume and come see the Mountain Kings as they close out the month!
