Just like that, January is almost over, and your New Hampshire Mountain Kings head into February on an absolute heater. I’m Alex Posani, here to give you a recap on the first month of 2026.
The first weekend of the month started off with a bang, as your Mountain Kings hosted the Philadelphia Rebels on January 2nd and 3rd. Ronnie Hill had two goals and an assist on Thomas Malawski’s game winning goal, and Nolan Francis battled through a lower body injury to put up 18 saves on 21 shots, as the Mountain Kings took down the Rebels in overtime, 4-3. Saturday, both teams took it to the limit, but the Mountain Kings lost in the Shootout, 3-2.
The next weekend, Elmira came into town for two with the Mountain Kings. On the 9th, the Mountain Kings won 5-0 in dominant fashion, with Nolan Francis making a perfect 32 saves on 32 shots. Ronnie Hill, the hottest scorer in the NAHL, once again had two goals, making it five in his last 3 games.
If you like scoring, you definitely appreciated the game against the Aviators on Saturday the 10th, as the Mountain Kings and the Aviators duked it out for a 6-5 Mountain Kings win. Aidan Petroff and Rogie Cacciarelli both had two goals a piece, and Alex “Hot Spice” Gelhar and Cael Knutson both chipped in with goals.
The Rochester Ice Center continues to be a house of horrors for the New Hampshire Mountain Kings, as they lost 5-1 on the 16th and 8-1 on the 17th to the Rochester Jr. Americans. Despite that bad weekend, the Mountain Kings took 3 of 4 points against the Maine Nordiques the next weekend, winning 5-0 on Friday the 23rd, with Cael Knutson scoring a pair of goals and Nolan Francis delivering his second shutout of the month. Saturday the 24th, the Mountain Kings lost in overtime to Maine, by a score of 3-2.
February promises to be a fun month, and we’ll see you at the rink!
